IV Therapy in Edmonton: The Myers Cocktail
We offers Edmonton the versatile Myers' Cocktail.
Our office offers numerous versions of the Myers' Cocktail IV Therapy.
Dr. Muradov has administered thousands of Myers Cocktails IV Therapy treatments since 2010.
Most commonly Dr Muradov uses this as a primary IV Therapy treatment for boosting energy in patients with a suspected nutrient deficiency based fatigue. However, even relatively healthy patients have frequently chosen to receive periodic injections because it seems to enhance their overall well being.
For the first 5 years of practice, Dr. Muradov exclusively offered the Myers it in its original IV "push" format - administered manually in a syringe and has seem tremendous results in a large range of health conditions other than fatigue.
Patients frequently follow the Myers Cocktail with a drip of Glutathione. The Myers' can also be combined with IV NAD+ for an even more profound effect on fatigue.

The effects are rapid - patients often feel better within 24 hours after the IV treatment.
Dr. Muradov usually suggests Myers IV Therapy once weekly for 3-4 weeks to improve energy. The initial effect is usually within 24 hours and the first IV lasts 3-5 days. Subsequent IVs last longer and longer. Our goal is for patients to only need an occasional booster shot to maintain the effect.
Dr. Muradov has always felt the Myers' needed to be kept true to its original formulation. Therefore, our office has always maintained the Myers' as an extremely concentrated, short volume IV Therapy treatment that is relatively quickly administered to achieve higher peak serum concentrations of nutrients and so that nutrients can be taken up against less of a concentration gradient.
Our Naturopaths administer the Myers as both a "push" and "drip" IV Treatment.
The composition of the Myers' IV treatment is relatively simple: principally B Vitamins, Magnesium and Vitamin C. But in this simplicity lies it's beauty: there are only nine water soluble vitamins: vitamin C and the eight B vitamins and the only B Vitamin that is not given in the Myers is biotin.
With regards to fatigue, B vitamins are involved in every aspect of generating energy within cells and deficiency in any one of the B vitamins will negatively affect energy production.
And the Myers allows for rapid repletion of all of the B Vitamins and Magnesium and can frequently improve energy because of this. IV Therapy administration is not only apparently more effective for correcting intracellular nutrient deficits but many nutrients exhibit pharmacologic effects when given in the quantities given through IV Therapy.

Myers Cocktail IV Therapy - What are the Side Effects?
As mentioned above, Dr.Muradov has administered thousands of Myers Cocktail IV Therapy treatments and the incidence of side effects is extremely low. Most commonly, because of the high concentration of the IV, some feel discomfort at the site of injection in the vein - a strong pressure.
The magnesium content which dilates blood vessels causes a warming sensation and possibly lightheadedness if administered too rapidly. Rarely, sensitive patients can feel more tired the following day after treatment.
Myers Cocktail IV Therapy - How does it work?
IV Therapy administration of nutrients can achieve serum concentrations that are not obtainable with oral administration. Peak serum concentrations of nutrients are higher after IV administration, because of rapid entry of the nutrients into the bloodstream. Therefore IV Therapy is more effective than oral treatment for correcting intracellular nutrient deficiencies.
How many IV Therapy treatments do I need?
The Myers' IV Therapy is usually given 1x weekly for about 4 weeks. Generally, the interval between treatments can be gradually increased, and eventually the injections are no longer necessary. However, occasionally, other patients require regular IV Therapy treatments (for example 1x every 4-8 weeks) for an indefinite period of time in order to control their medical problems.
Although many patients feel better after their first IV Therapy treatment, in some cases it takes 3-4 treatments for the effects to full manifest. Therefore, we frequently recommend a series of at least 3 consecutive IV treatments before re-evaluating the treatment plan.
