Our Therapies
More about the conditions we see:Skin ConditionsThe main skin concerns our Naturopaths see are acne, eczema, psoriasis and hair loss. In our experience, proper testing is of paramount importance to the resolution of skin concerns. Our Naturopaths rely heavily on Food Sensitivity and Food Allergy Testing to help understand the origins of many acne and eczema cases. In fact we've seen many examples where cases of eczema or acne resolve fully just with proper dietary modification. DUTCH urinary hormone testing has proven to be a key tool in understanding acne and hair loss cases at our clinic. Urinary hormone testing allows our Naturopaths to better understand male and female hormones and their metabolites so we can better interject naturopathic therapies. Women's HealthThe main Women's Health concerns our Naturopaths see are menopause, PMS & PCOS Understandably, hormone testing is key in Women's Health. For many years our Naturopaths relied on Salivary and Blood hormone testing for many female concerns. More recently, we've heavily incorporated DUTCH urinary hormone testing as a key methodology for Women's Health. DUTCH testing gives our Naturopathic Doctors a wealth of data on your hormones and their metabolites. Although more costly, it can give a deep look at hormones. With menopause, and severe PMS your TruMed Naturopath may refer you for bio-identical hormones to allied health professionals. Digestive DisordersThe main digestive concerns our Naturopaths see are IBS and Constipation Dr. Muradov has always heavily relied on Food Sensitivity Testing as a cornerstone of his Naturopathic practice. Many functional medicine practitioners, including Dr. Muradov, have observed that food allergies can be a common cause of a wide range of physical and mental disorders, including digestive issues. With that said, many cases of IBS improve when problematic foods are identified and removed. Testing can allow our Naturopaths to make extremely specific recommendations of which foods to keep and which to remove. With regards to constipation, understanding bacterial balance is of importance. Our Naturopaths often run SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth) Testing as well as Stool Microbiology to quantify undergrowth or overgrowth so we can make recommendations on antimicrobials or probiotics. Our Naturopaths also work with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's). Hormone imbalancesThe main hormone imbalances our Naturopaths see are Thyroid, PMS & Adrenal Our Naturopathic Doctors often rely on blood, saliva and urinary hormone testing to gather a massive amount of data with regards to your hormonal health. Hormone imbalances will have considerable overlap with other sections as they are the cause of other concerns we deal with heavily. With regards to Thyroid health our Naturopaths rely on blood and urine to get the majority of our Thyroid data. We usually put a magnifying glass over Free T3 and Free T4 and their composition. Salivary Estrogen and Progesterone testing is frequently helpful, but as mentioned throughout DUTCH urinary hormone testing can give our Naturopathic Doctors a deep understanding especially when we need to know more about hormones and their breakdown products. Adrenal issues (Hypoadrenalism) also known as "adrenal fatigue" is an often neglected area we see in our Edmonton patients and our Naturopaths prefer either Saliva Cortisol or Dutch Urinary Cortisol measurements. Food AllergyOur Naturopaths focus heavily on Food Allergy, Sensitivity & Intolerance Our Naturopathic Doctors offer IgG4/IgE Food Allergy Testing at our clinic for patients dealing with rapid food reactions. Food allergy is well recognized in standard medicine as a cause of acute attacks of asthma, hives and rashes. These types of allergic reactions are called immediate "type 1 hypersensitivity reactions" mediated by the immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody. Another type of food reaction, often referred to as “hidden” food allergy, and sometimes described as food sensitivity can bring about reactions hours to days after ingestion. According to one estimate, as much as 60% of the population suffers from undetected food allergies and sensitivities. Inspired by the work of Jonathan Wright MD and Alan Gaby MD, Dr. Muradov has long incorporated extensive Food Allergy and Sensitivity Testing as part of his Naturopathic practice. He's run thousands of food allergy tests for his Edmonton patients. We usually take the blood samples in-house in our IV Therapy lounge. Food Allergy is associated with literally dozens of conditions but we most commonly our Naturopaths see cases of eczema, asthma, psoriasis, acne, sinus issues, ear aches, abdominal pain, IBS, diarrhea, gerd, cough and numerous autoimmune diseases.
Mental HealthOur Naturopaths frequently work with anxiety and depression. A number of different dietary, hormonal, herbal and functional medicine treatments have been found to be helpful in the treatment of mental health concerns. We've seen that a Naturopathic treatment program can produce positive results in many common mental health issues. Our Naturopathic Doctors have seen some outstanding results using IV Therapy for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression and bi-polar. What's particularly impressive is the speed with which some mental health concerns can respond with IV Therapy: often times within 24hrs which is faster than what we've seen with any other Naturopathic mood treatments.  Thyroid ConcernsOur Naturopaths focus on Thyroid health In our experience and in the experience of many other Naturopaths, the conventional approach to diagnosing and treating hypothyroidism has major weaknesses. Often, standard Thyroid testing only assesses TSH levels - Our Naturopaths usually go deeper and assess Free hormone levels (Free T3 & Free T4) as a more practical assessment of subtle thyroid concerns. Fatigue, Depression, Infertility, PMS, Menstrual Disturbances, Brain Fog, Constipation, Hair Loss, Low Libido, and Weight gain are some of the common reasons our Naturopaths do Thyroid assessments. We also see a significant number of hypothyroid patients that have insufficient improvement or no improvement at all after standard treatment. Many of these "nonresponders" can have a much better response to an integrative approach. Multiple SclerosisDr. Muradov knows MS. Dr. Muradov as he has been dealing with an aggressive variant of MS since 2007 so naturally it became a part of his Naturopathic practice. Ultimately, the take home message with regards to Natural medicine and MS is that the end point of demyelination is the same for all patients but the path to get there has differences. For some patients we become get gut-oriented, for others we assess toxicities and for others we focus on infections. Autoimmunity can be terribly challenging but for common autoimmune diseases like MS we have a lot of alternative treatment options that can help. All the Naturopathic Doctors at TruMed deal with autoimmunity but Dr Muradov for obvious reasons deals with most of the MS patients. We work with a range of oral and IV therapy options for our MS patients. Our Naturopaths usually focus on relapse frequency, severity and progression as well as symptomatic supports (energy, pain, cognition etc). Food sensitivity testing, stool digestive analyses, viral, bacterial and fungal testing and toxicity testing are key areas our Naturopathic doctors focus on typically.  About NaturopathsWhy see a Naturopath? If you are looking for personalized medicine, with a track record of efficacy and a low incidence of side effects using non-toxic natural therapies from a highly trained medical professional, then Naturopath medicine is for you. Our Naturopathic Doctors always try and give you the least amount of natural medicines to do the job. We've seen many patients who come to our offices overloaded on supplements. We make very specific potent recommendations to address your health concerns. What conditions do Naturopaths see?Naturopathic doctors work with a very large range of health conditions. Dr Muradov directs his Naturopathic practice on the following areas: Fatigue - Thyroid, Adrenal & deficiencies are often considered.  If you don't see your particular health concern, feel free to contact us. Dr. Muradov ND works with three other Naturopaths that might be able to help: Dr. Deol ND has been part of our office since 2017 and works with many of the same conditions Dr. Muradov does as well as Fertility and Pediatrics as part of her Naturopathic practice. Dr. Sumar ND joined in 2019, however, both worked together previously in 2013 and 2014 at a Naturopath clinic. Dr. Tran ND joined in 2022 and brings a strong musculoskeletal background to the office - Prolotherapy and Acupuncture for pain management. What can a Naturopath help with?We get questions all the time about specific conditions. Can a Naturopath help with Acne?
Our Naturopaths work with Acne all the time. First, diet is key. We've seen lots of cases where foods contribute. So dietary changes or food allergy testing might be used by your Naturopath. Secondly, hormone testing is frequently used - we often use "DUTCH" urinary testing which is really helpful for looking at female hormones as well as male hormones and their acne causing metabolites.  Diet is a cornerstone of Naturopathic Acne support. Can a Naturopath help with Anxiety or Depression?
Heck ya we can! Dr. Muradov's Naturopathic practice focuses on hormones so first we usually screen patients for hormonal abnormalities that might be related. Our Naturopaths see a lot of mood issues related to low male hormones in both men and women. Then we investigate deficiencies before transitioning to neurotransmitter analysis. We have numerous Naturopathic herbal and supplementary options for mood balancing while we do our workups. IV Therapy can work dramatically in some patients for improving mood and energy.  Many times our Naturopathic doctors will recommend adding herbal therapies to augment your existing medications. Can a Naturopath help with Fatigue?Fatigue is the #1 concern that our Naturopaths see. Dr Muradov has extensive experience with fatigue. Our Naturopaths always start with a hormone workup focusing on adrenal, thyroid and male hormones and basic deficiencies. This approach is for about 75% of our patients at our Edmonton office. If needed we may transition to IV therapy or investigate infectious or toxic causes of fatigue.  Many times our Naturopaths are working with Adrenal health which is an extremely underappreciated issue in the Edmonton area. Our Naturopaths prefer to use Adrenal glandular extracts if there is a confirmed deficiency in Saliva or Urine. Can a Naturopath help with IBS?Most definitely. IBS is definitely the second most common conditions our Naturopaths see at our Edmonton office. Food Sensitivity & Allergy testing is a mainstay of our digestive IBS treatments. Probiotics and Enzymes are often recommended by our Naturopaths after SIBO (bacterial overgrowth) or CDSA (comprehensive stool analysis) testing is used to understand your ability to digest and microbiome balance.   Based on the experience of our Naturopathic doctors, proper digestive health is often about removing offending foods, killing pathogenic flora and re-inoculating with beneficial strains and our test methodologies guide us as to what precisely to do in your particular case.  Can a Naturopath help with weight loss? Our Naturopaths look at impeding factors to effective weight loss. Our approach is always to do hormone testing to ensure that the main fat burning hormones (Cortisol, Thyroid, DHEA, Testosterone, Insulin) are optimized so that good dietary changes (which we can help with) and exercise can actually work! We also work with and our experienced with a range of modern dietary strategies to help with weight loss goals. Get in touch   |
