Dr. Muradov is highly experienced in Fatigue Management

Fatigue Management

Common causes: Thyroid issues, Adrenal Concerns, Nutrient Deficiences, Hormonal Imbalances, Heavy Metals and Mitochondrial Deficits

We usually begin our fatigue work up with comprehensive blood and salivary testing.

Common Blood Work: Iron, B12, TSH/FreeT3/Free T4 & Thyroid Antibodies

Common Saliva Testing: AM Cortisol, DHEA, Testosterone, Estradiol and Progesterone

For stubborn cases: Advanced Nutritional Testing, Infectious Testing (EBV, HHV-6 & Candida) and toxicity testing (Heavy Metals) & Organic Acid Testing (OAT) may be conducted.

Our Naturopaths use immunosciences lab from Los Angeles to measure viral antibody levels as well as a stool microbiology culture to measure yeast levels at our Edmonton clinic. We use urinary heavy metal testing to assess primarily for mercury accumulation.

Top nutrients we screen for related to fatigue are: Magnesium, Iodine, Iron and B12. However, deficiencies of other minerals or vitamins can also cause low energy.

Management Options

Management options:

Our Naturopaths often begin with nutritional and herbal options for fatigue treatment. Commonly we use Adrenal glandular extracts to treat hypoadrenalism or "adrenal fatigue" as well as iodine based herbal formulas for thyroid treatment especially if an iodine deficiency is found.

More difficult cases may require use of *Bio-identical or Injectable Options.

Dessicated Thyroid, DHEA and Hydrocortisone are all potential *Bio-Identical options for Fatigue.

For infectious cases of fatigue we usually start with oral antimicrobials. Viral infections are often treated with Baikal Skullcap, Lomatium, Olive Leaf, Artemesinin, Lysine and Vitamin C. Your TruMed Naturopath may refer you for prescription anti-virals as well or may also recommend IV Vitamin C. Yeast infections are also typically treated orally with grapefruit seed extract and capryllic acid.

If a metal toxicity is found, your Naturopath may recommend oral chelation using agents such as DMSA - a chelator with high affinity for lead and mercury in addition to supplementary minerals.

IV vitamin therapy is also a rapid and effective option for stubborn cases of Fatigue.

*We may refer to prescribing professionals if Bio-identical options are needed.
