Naturopathic Acne, Eczema & Psoriasis Treatment

We commonly treat skin concerns at our Naturopath clinic.

Acne, Eczema & Psoriasis are skin issues commonly seen and treated.

Common Hormone Testing:  DHEA, Testosterone, Estradiol and Progesterone

Common Food Testing: Food Allergy Testing or Food Sensitivity Testing.

Our Naturopaths use state of the art DUTCH urinary hormone testing for aggressive acne cases to understand the full array of male hormones and their metabolites.

For acne cases with a clear PMS component we use salivary hormone estradiol and progesterone testing which is more cost effective than urine testing.

Food Allergy Testing is helpful in cases of hives and rashes.

Whereas our Naturopathic doctors tend to use Food Sensitivity Testing in cases of acne, eczema and psoriasis.

We assess for various deficiencies in skin cases especially acne.

Alternative Skin Treatments in Edmonton

Management options:

Acne: Our Naturopaths often begin with hormone testing and food sensitivity testing.

In acne cases with a PMS component, we are usually adding estrogen modulating herbal treatments.

If the acne is steady throughout the month our Naturopaths often consider either food sensitivity or androgens.

In cases with an androgen imbalance, improving sulfation pathways in the liver are helpful in addition to herbs like Saw Palmetto and Chinese Peony are important.

Milk, Wheat, Citrus, Pork, Nuts, Tomatoes and Chocolate are common trigger foods for acne and are sometimes removed empirically if foods are suspected.

Eczema and Psoriasis: We always start with food sensitivity testing to uncover immunologic triggers.

Dairy, Gluten and Eggs are the most commonly found offenders in both eczema and psoriasis.

Also, analysis of gut microbiome can be helpful in terms of understanding if there are microbial factors (bacteria & yeast) affecting your skin health.

So your TruMed Naturopath might suggest CDSA stool testing to understand how your gut health is affecting your skin. Gut healing protocols are often emplyed especially in psoriasis.

Dr. Sumar at our clinic offers electrodermal histamine analysis which can help understand disruptions in histamine breakdown pathways in both eczema and psoriasis.

IV Therapy

IV Therapy may be used for skin health.

We have numerous drips that are utilized for skin conditions.

Patients are usually using injections for skin brightening and whitening.

Typically short format IV therapy is used for cosmetic purposes.

We will suggest the optimal IV therapy frequency for you depending on your cosmetic goals.
